A. Daugherty on Wednesday afternoon 2:30, July 26 at Bethel Church in Clay County where she had been a faithful member for many years. Rev. W. V. Wallace, Kent and a lifelong friend of the family was in charge of the service. Assisting him were Rev. W. E. Easterwood, pastor of the church, and Rev. R. L. Cooper, Eclectic. A choir composed of members from the Mellow Valley. Mountain and Corinth communities rendered special music and favorite numbers of Mrs. Daugherty. Born in Tallapoosa County Jan. 28, 1882, she lived all but the last two years in the Valley Grove community. Before her marriage in November 1898 to William A. Daugherty, she was Della Gooden, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Gooden who also lived practically all their lives in the Valley Grove community. To the union or Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty were born seven children, five daughters and two sons. She lived to see all of them grown and establish homes. Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in November 1948. Mrs. Daugherty was a devoted wife and mother. Though in poor health for several years, she never tired doing things for her family and friends. She will be remembered as one who loved the beautiful things that God has given to the world. Especially, did she love the flowers that she cultivated in her yard. Two years ago, she and her husband moved from the old home community to be near their daughter, Mrs. Raleigh Corr, who lives at the Dairyland Farm near Opelika and Auburn. Survivors include her husband, W. A. Daugherty, four daughters, Mrs. Corr and Mrs. Lee Kilourn of Opelika, Mrs. H. H. Bradberry, Kinston, Mrs. H. G. Birchfield, Alexander City, two sons, A. M. of Nashville, Tenn., and Thomas F. Daugherty, of Kershaw, S.C., and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
