Thomas D. Dawkins was born in Georgia on the 21st day of October 1859, and departed this life on the 18th day of April 1934, at his home. Age 74 years 5 months and 27 days. He came to Alabama when a small child and spent the remainder of his life here. He is survived by his wife and six children all of excellent character and loved him devotedly. Ho joined the Baptist church at County Line, Clay County, in the year 1876. He served as a Deacon of the church for a number of years and was ordained to the Gospel Ministery was a good preacher, a good neighbor, a good citizen and a man of high Brother Dawkins was a man of Excellent Christian Character, always devoted to what he believed to be right. He and his Christian wife lived happily together for more than 50 years, and his family, friends and loved ones will hold in sacred memory the noble virtues of his consecrated life. He anchored to the Infinite and God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to remove him from Earth to the beautiful City of God. His body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at McDaniel's Chapel, near hir. home, and the funeral was conducted by the writer. Fitting tributes were also paid to his life and character by Revs. E. E. Laney, T. J. Preston, S.C. Ray, Judge E. J. Garrison and W. B. Nolen. A great concourse of friends attended bis funeral and his body was laid to rest under a profusion, of the most beautiful flowers. As we mourn his death let us catch the gleam from his Christian life and draw nearer the blessed Savior in whose blessed presence he quietly and peacefully fell asleep to awake in the glorious light of the Eternal morning.
