J. Dawkins died at his home January the 15. He was born May 31st, 1850. "Uncle Jeff," as he was called by almost everyone who knew him, had been in failing health for about two years, most of the last few months of his life were spent in bed. He bore his suffering with patience. He often told his wife and children that when God saw fit to call him away, he would be ready to go. To say he was a good neighbor and will be missed the community where he lived, is only to speak the truth. When a young man, he professed faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church of which he was a member as long as he lived. He was a kind and loving husband, a true father and a friend to all. His wife, three sons and one daughter, with a lot of other relatives, survive him. His body was laid to rest in McDaniel's Chapel cemetery, January 17th. Funeral services was conducted by Rev. B. M. Bowen. May God's richest blessings rest upon the bereaved family, and may they trust Him who doeth all things well, knowing He will be with us always even unto the end.
