Funeral services were held at County Line Church with the Rev. H. T. Taylor officiating. Very comforting words were spoken by Rev. O. C. Nichols and Rev. H.G. Birchfield. Blair was in charge. Mr. Dawkins was born June 28, 1879, in Clay County. He was first married to Susie Waldrop, in 1902, who died in 1912. He married Etta Dawkins in 1914. He joined the Baptist church in August 1899. His daily life was a living sermon to those who knew him. He was a loyal and devoted husband and father, a helpful accommodating neighbor, a kindhearted man whose generosity knew no bounds, a citizen whose presence will be longed for, but his works will live on. Surviving are his wife four daughters, Mrs. Lessie Young, Mrs. Bessie Thompson, Mrs. Voncile Jordan and Miss Annie Dawkins; One son, Hilton Dawkins; one brother, J. H. Dawkins, and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were Author Herbert, Phillip and Darrell Dawkins, Billy Worthy and Orvil Canady.
