Ashland Progress
Mrs. Matilda Dawkins died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. Jones, about two 
miles from Ash land on last Sunday afternoon. She was 85 years of age and had 
resided in that community for a long time. Her husband preceded her in death 
several years. She is survived by two daughters Mrs. G. C. Jones, with whom she 
made her home; Mrs. W. G. Clanton of Birmingham, and one son, Douglas Dawkins, of 
St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services were held at McDaniel's Chapel Tuesday 
morning, conducted by Rev. Jesse Ray, with Blair directing. Pallbearers were 
Wiley Grogan, Leo Pair, Odus and Grady Jones George Scoggins and Fred Thompson.
