Dawkins, three miles east of Ashland called his loving wife to come up higher. Mrs. Susie Dawkins was born March 22nd, 1885, and died Sept. 12th, 1912. She had been married 9 years and 11 months and was the mother of four children. She was a member of the Baptist church for 12 years. During her sickness she said to her husband that she was going home where there would be no more pain, no sorrow, no parting. Her remains were carried to the Chapel cemetery one mile north of Mellow Valley, where a host of her relatives and friends met to pay theft last respects. The funeral service was conducted by the writer from the book of Revelations, 7 chapter and 14, verse. W. M. Worthy.
