M. Dean, in Lineville. Funeral services were held at 11:30 January 4, at Pleasant Grove church near Clairmont Springs with Rev Paul Edwards of Anniston conducting the services. The deceased had lived in Clay County the greater part of his life He was a devoted father and a helping hand to those in need. He was loved and appreciated by all who knew him. He was a consecrated Christian and an active church member for 64 years. He was married to Martha Tate 61 years. She preceded him to the grave three years. To this union was born seventeen children. Fifteen of these they reared to be grown. They also reared three grandchildren. Those surviving are C. M. Dean, Lineville; J. W. Dean, Albertville; Leon Dean, Henagar; J. M. Dean, Mrs. N. Cofield and Mrs. A. A. Bryant Anniston; V. L. C. and D. C. Dean, Gadsden; J. A. and E. Dean, Talladega, and Mrs. J. H. Hill, Arab; one brother, two sisters, 88 grandchildren, 123 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren Active pallbearers were six grandsons, J. Clarence, Homer, Horace and Russell Dean, and Curtis German. Honorary pallbearers were J. Smith, P. O. Taylor, C. H. Snow Robert Ford, W. E. Whatley and K. Cook. Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery with Blair directing.
