Dean, 70, wife of Dr. J. W. Dean, widely known Baptist minister, died suddenly Wednesday morning Nov. 11th in her home at Cragford. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, Nov. 14th, at Cragford Baptist Church with the Rev. O. C. Nichols officiating. Interment was in adjoining cemetery, Blair directing. A large concourse of relatives and friends met to pay this last tribute of respect. Mrs. Dean had lived all her life in Clay County, and she was the former Miss Nettie Oslin. A resident of Mellow Valley for a number of years, Mrs. Dean had lived at Cragford the past ten or fifteen years. She was faithful to both her church and community as long as her health would permit. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, Dr. J.W. Dean, six sons. Gloyd Dean, Anniston; Faye Dean, Birmingham; John Dean, Canada; Euell Dean, Tallahassee, LaRue Dean Wisconsin; and Auber Dean, Atlanta, Ga. Three daughters, Mrs. Durell Lashley, Butler Ga., Mrs. Wheeler Harris Cragford and Mrs. Elmon Bolt, Ashland. The oldest son, Lavell Dean, preceded her in death several years.
