Our Mountain Home
Miss Mary DeFreeze of Clay County died at the Hotel yesterday evening of 
pneumonia. She was in the city visiting relatives. and was attacked with the 
fatal disease, on last Tuesday, how sad to die without the presence of the dear 
loved ones of home, around the couch. This lady received every attention, the 
attending Physician, Dr. B. Toole did everything in his power to avert the 
demands of the great enemy of the human race, but all proved futile. 

Additional Comments:
Note: It is unknown if Miss DeFriese was brought back to Black's Chapel in Clay 
County for burial or she was buried in Talladega County.
