Easterwood, 55, of Oxford, Rt. 2, was killed near here Friday in a freak accident. Clay County Coroner John R. Wheeler said Easterwood died enroute to the Lineville Clinic after being crushed under a heavy tractor. Coroner Wheeler said Easter wood was attempting to load the tractor on a truck, parked on a slope, when it slipped, fell upon him and trapped him underneath. The accident occurred at approximately 5 p.m., according to the coroner. Mr. Easterwood is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margie H. Easterwood. three sons, Floyd, of Oxford, Horace, of Anniston, and Benny Ray, of Blue Mountain, four daughters, Mrs. Jerome Conners, of Wheeling, W. Va., Mrs. Peggy Suggs, of Anniston, and Misses Katie and Margie Easterwood, of Oxford; a brother, C. S. Easterwood, of Delta; two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Ligon, of Delta, and Mrs. K. A. Crosson, of Oxford, and by 16 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Easterwood will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Bethel Baptist Church in Clay County. The. Revs. George Payne and Arcus Adams will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. Nephews will act as pallbearers.
