Ashland Progress
Funeral services were conducted for Grady Elliott, age 53, at the Olive Branch 
Baptist Church at 1 o'clock Tuesday. Mr. Elliott died at the Clay County 
Hospital following a heart attack at his home. The Rev. Elmon Mattox and Judge 
W. B. Nolen officiated. Blair Funeral Home was in charge with burial in 
Macedonia cemetery. Mr. Elliott had lived in the Olive Branch community most of 
his life. He was employed by Willis Oil at the time of his death. He had been 
employed by Pruet Lumber Co. before his employment with the Oil Co. He is 
survived by his mother, Mrs. G. S. Elliott and a brother, Duel Elliott, both of 
Ashland. Pallbearers were Gay Elliott, Earl Elliott, Morris Willis, Fred Willis, 
Howard White, Maynard Pruet, and Clayton Willis. Honorary pallbearers were 
Grover Pace, Frank Carpenter, Chester Hallman, Stell Young, Lee Carpenter. J. C. 
Williamson, Huston Harkins, and A. P. Dison.
