Ashland Progress
James George Elliott. 73, were held at Olive Branch Baptist Church on June 25th 
at two p.m. with Rev. A. O. Burdette and Judge W. Nolen officiating. Blair 
Funeral directors were in charge. Interment was in Macedonia cemetery, Mr. 
Elliott was born in Clay County in the same community in which he resided at the 
time of his death and had always been a farmer. His passing was unexpected. He 
was rushed to Clay County Hospital shortly after suffering a heart attack but 
died shortly thereafter. Survivors include his wife, Four sons, Willie 
Cedartown, John L. and Gay, Birmingham; George, Childersburg. One brother and 
one sister. Active pallbearers were Sam Pruet, John Price, Pearce Elliott, Sam 
Bonner, Earl and Dewell Elliott. Honorary pallbearers were H. V. Miller, Rayford 
Tomlin, Lavelle Elliott, Bill Bell, Simon Ogles, Lavelle Bush, J. E. Moon, and 
Clyde Elliott.
