Funeral services of Mrs. Viola Carpenter Elliott. 82, were held at 2 p. m. Monday 
at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, Elder B. Bruce Finley and the Rev. B. F. 
Gregg officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Blair Funeral Home in 
charge. Mrs. Elliott, widow of the late Marion C. Elliott, was the daughter of 
the late Mr. and Mrs. David Carpenter, one of Clay County's pioneer families. She 
died at her home in the Olive Branch community After an illness of several 
months. Survivors include four sons. Martin Elliott, Purvis, Miss; Eldridge 
Elliott, West Point. Pierce Elliott. Ashland; Lowell Elliott. Childersburg; two 
daughters, Mrs. Beulah Mellon, Ashland; Mrs. Lilla Pogue, High Springs, Several 
nephews, nieces, grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
