From the reports it appears that the Grissett negro claims that the woman had cut his mother in a difficulty, prior to the killing and, after learning of this, he procured a gun fired it upon her several times, some of the shots proving fatal. He is said to have made no effort to get away but remained about the camp until taken in custody by the sheriff. Additional Comments: Gilles Grissett was convicted of murder and sent to prison.
