Anniston Star
Willis Fred Gaither, 55, of Anniston, Rt. 5, died Saturday at the Birmingham 
Veterans Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 
Blair Funeral Home with the Revs. Cecil Ray, John Dawson, and John Haynie 
officiating. Interment was in Lineville Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, 
Mrs. Kate Gaither; one daughter Rose Ann, one son Jim Gaither; his parents, Mr. 
and Mrs. Chester Gaither of Lineville; three sisters; Mrs. Herbert Mitchell of 
Anniston, Mrs. Jake McCollum of Lineville, and Mrs. William B. Scoggins of San 
Antonio, Texas; two brothers Borden Gaither of Anniston and Dilford Gaither of 
Ashland; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Talmage East, Gene 
Gaither, Lynn McCollum, Roland Hannah, Buford Parker and Harold Griffin. Gaither 
was a member of Holly Springs Baptist church.
