Ashland Progress
Funeral for Mrs. J. H. Gaither, 87, Lanett, was held Sun. Nov.24th at Johnson and 
Blakely Chapel, Lanett, with the Rev. Carl Tolleson, pastor of the Shawmut 
Methodist Church, conducting the service. Burial was in the Shiloh Baptist Church 
Cemetery of Clay County. Mrs. Gaither died Nov.23rd at the home of a daughter, 
Mrs. Pat Lane, 1600 Eighth Lanett. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roy 
Saxon, West Point; two sons, Abner Gaither, Moab, Utah; and Carl Gaither, 
Shawmut; a sister, Mrs. R.L. Smith, Sylacauga; two brothers, Oscar and Lon 
Worthy, both of Ashland; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-
great-grandchild.
