Clay County Advance
Rev. Jno Garrett died at his home at Oak Lone in this county last Wednesday 
evening at 5 o'clock. He had been ill for only a few days and this announcement 
will be a sad surprise to his many friends throughout the county. He had been a 
citizen of Clay County for several years, and few men had more friends and fewer 
enemies than he died. He was an Elder in the Baptist church, and his influence 
for good will be felt in this county for in my years to come. He lived at this 
place for four years, during which time he was County Treasurer, and we never 
heard anything but good spoken of him. He made a faithful and efficient officer. 
In his death, the county has lost a representative citizen, the church a 
consecrated preacher and his family a devoted Husband and father. We sympathize 
with them in their bereavement.
