Mrs. Sidney J. Garrett, 95, of Delta died Sunday in a local nursing home after a 
long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Delta Baptist Church with 
the Rev. Larry Riddle officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with 
Miller Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. L. S. 
Currie and Mrs. R. C. Lutes, both of Birmingham. Mrs. John Bishop and Mrs. Roy 
Norwood, both of Houston Tex., and Mrs. Walter Jones of Delta; three sons, O. G. 
Garrett of Oxford, U. C. Garrett of Anniston and T. C. Garrett of Houston, two 
sisters, Mrs. J. H. Cockrell of Plant City, and Mrs. Nathan Atkins of Gadsden; 
two brothers, A. R. Jenkins of Wedowee and D. P. Jenkins of Coldwater, 18 
grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. 
Grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Garrett was a lifelong resident of Clay 
County and a member of Delta Baptist Church. The body will remain at the funeral 
home until one hour prior to services.
