Garrett was born March 19th, 1853. Died Sept. 10th, 1928. At his death 75 yrs. 5 mo. and 21 days He was twice married, his last wife surviving him, 6 sons and 2 daughters by the first marriage, and all were present several grandchildren and other relative, and a host of friends to mourn his departure. Brother Garrett was a consistent member of the Baptist Church and also a deacon from early manhood. He was made a Mason at Hardy Howle lodge no. 419 about the year 1890. served his lodge as Sr. Warden fifteen years or more. He was a dependable member always present at his lodge meeting unless sickness prevented. He was also a R. A. M. of Delta Chapter No. 143. In the loss of Bro. Garrett the lodges has lost one of the brightest and best jewels, the family their best counselor and advisor He was laid to rest in Mt. Moriah cemetery with masonic honors.
