Another negro called "Jam-up" who lived in the house with him. first discovered the dead body, when he went in home from town late at night. It is thought that the victim was shot while asleep. An investigation was at once begun following up clues pointed by suspicion, and late Wednesday afternoon Carl Williams, a white man with a criminal record, was arrested and placed in jail. Circumstances taken in connection with admissions he has already made are said to closely implicate him in the crime.
