Ashland Progress
Funeral services were held at Providence Church for John W. Gibson, widely known 
citizen of Clay County, Friday afternoon at 3 P. M. Elder B. B. Finley, Homer 
Denney and Judge W. B. Nolen officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. 
Blair in charge. Mr. Gibson is survived by the widow, Mrs. Lela D. Gibson, two 
sons, H. M. of Moulton, T. A. of Opelika, Ala. Two daughters, Mrs. Wiley Maddox 
of Marianna, and Mrs. L. D. Mitchell of Pensacola, Fla. Also his mother, five 
living brothers and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Oma, Tommie, Loomis, 
Elbert and Jim Gibson, and Lon Denny.
