Services for Mary Beulah Bell Watts Gortney, 80, of Ashland, were today at Clay 
County Funeral Home with Rev. Richard East officiating. Burial was in Mount Arat 
Cemetery. Mrs. Gortney died Monday at Lineville Nursing Facility. Survivors 
include her husband, Clarence Gortney of Ashland; three daughters, Gaynell Smith 
Harvell, of Ashland, Charline Carr Gurley of Talladega and Brenda Gortney Long 
of Birmingham; two sons, Travis Gortney and Douglas Gortney, both of Ashland; a 
sister, Beatrice Gortney of Sylacauga; 1 1 grandchildren and 13 great-grand-, 
children. Pallbearers were James Smith, Mike Smith, Vic Gortney, Phil Gortney, 
Tony Gortney, Jeremy Long and Frank Gortney. Mrs. Gortney was a Clay County 
native and lifelong resident. She was retired from Tyson Foods Inc. and was a 
member of Lystra Baptist Church.
