Services for Beatrice Gortney, 90, of Sylacauga will be Thursday at 1 1 a.m. in 
the chapel of Clay County Funeral Home with Rev. Richard East officiating. 
Burial will follow at Mt. Ararat Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 
the funeral home tonight from 5:30 until service time Thursday. Mrs. Gortney 
died Monday at Sylacauga Health Care Center. Survivors include two daughters, 
Vida Patterson of Sylacauga and Maurine Baker of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 13 
great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be 
Scotty Patterson, Yancy Patterson, Danny Joe Gortney, Ronnie Wayne Gortney, 
Tommy Reaves, Jeff Byrd, Greg Denny and Willie Baker. Mrs. Gortney was a native 
of Clay County but had been a resident of Sylacauga for 30 years. She was a 
homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.
