Services for Mrs. Marjorie O. Gautney, 71, of Ashland were today at Mount Zion 
Baptist Church in Clay County with the Rev. Richard East officiating. Burial was 
in Mount Arat Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. Ms. 
Gautney died Monday at Clay County Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, 
Miss Jean Gautney of Ashland and Mrs. Sherry Cotney of Wadley; four sons, 
Merrill Gautney of Oxford, Bobby Joe Gautney of Montgomery, Charles Gortney and 
Willis Gortney, both of Ashland; four sisters, Mrs. Opal Jett of Cragford, Mrs. 
Thelma Banks of Jackson Gap, Mrs. Bonnie Malphrus and Mrs. Bobbie McConnell, 
both of Montgomery; two brothers, Winford McCain of Cragford and Arthur McCain 
of Alexander City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers 
will be Paul Gautney, Joseph Gautney, Donald Gautney, Billy Denney, Gregg 
Denney, James Henderson Jr., Jerry Jett and Mike Jett. Mrs. Gautney was a Clay 
County native and lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount 
Zion Baptist Church.
