Green, an old and highly esteemed citizen of the county, died at his home near Mellow Valley Monday, June 30th. He was about 70 years of age and had been in ill health for some time. He was stricken with paralysis last Friday after which hia condition continued to grow more critical till the end came. Mr. Green was a lifelong citizen of that community. He is said to have been a member of County Line Church for 53 years and he was one of its most loyal and faithful members. He was the father of eight children, six of whom, four sons and two daughters, survive him. His wife also survives him. One of his sons, W.R. Green, is now a member of the board of County Commissioners of Clay County. Funeral services were held Tuesday and his remains were interred, in the cemetery at McDaniel's Chapel. A very large congregation of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral. Additional Comments: Note: Obit gives death date as June. Death date on the headstone is July.
