Roanoke Leader
The saddest occasion ever witnessed here was on Feb. 3, when Mrs. E.S. Greene 
ended her life by jumping in a well a half mile from her home at an old out-
house. She left home at 11 o'clock a.m. and was found at 2 o'clock p.m. No one 
knows the cause, but she seemed to be greatly troubled about something. She was 
67 years old and leaves five children and many relatives and friends to mourn her 
going. She was laid to rest in Cragford cemetery Wednesday.
