He was born Sept 6th, 1847, and was married to Miss G F Wynn in 1875. He leaves his wife and 5 children to mourn their loss. In 1873 Brother Griffin joined the Baptist church at Alder Springs. Since that time he has lived a consistent Christian life as all who knew him testify. Many say of him "He had no enemies." He will not only be missed as a husband, father and grandfather but also as a good neighbor, kind friend and loyal citizen. At three o'clock p, m, Sunday, September 15th, a large congregation gathered at Sardis church to pay their last respects to the deceased. After the funeral services, which were conducted by the writer and Rev Mr. Long, the remains were laid to rest in the Sardis cemetery. While it is sad to part with loved ones, it is sweet to know that from the testimonies left by this brother we shall meet him again in the "Sweet by and by". W. R. Ingram.
