Ashland Progress
Grady Griffin, Clay County farmer, took his life by shooting himself with a 
shotgun at an early hour Tuesday morning. He had become despondent over his 
health, after becoming worse from an affliction of many years. Funeral services 
were conducted from Pleasant Grove Baptist church Wednesday afternoon with Rev. 
B.W. Mathews officiating and other visiting ministers. He is survived by several 
sons and daughters besides the wife. One son is a midshipman in the Navy. 
Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery, with Blair directing.
