Ashland Progress
Funeral rites for Mr. William Jesse Grizzle, Rt. 1, were held at Mt. Prospect 
Church on Jan. 23rd at 2 p.m., conducted by Reverends Grady Birchfield, Jack 
Deweese, Winford Harris and Grady Harris. Interment was in church cemetery, 
directed by Blair Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Winford Gibson, Junior 
Gravette Jimmy Mitchell, Neil Burkhalter, Boyce Gibson, Homer Mitchell. Honorary 
pallbearers were E. D. Riley E.D. Riley Bruner Runyan, Arnold Gray, Jeff Smith, 
Boyd Runyan. Mr. Grizzle passed away in Clay County Hospital on Jan. 22nd at the 
age of 76. He was a deacon of New Prospect Baptist Church, a Mason, and a 
veteran of World War I. Eleven of his Buddies were present at his funeral. He 
spent his entire life in the same community. His sister, Miss Ada Camilla 
Grizzle, who resided with him, preceded him in death only three weeks. He is 
survived by a large number of relatives.
