M. Hamil, of Langdale, for the past 12 years, died Thursday morning, July 26, at 2:30 o'clock, following an illness of several months, her condition proving serious about three weeks before death called her. Mrs. Hamil, better known as Granny Hamil, was a member of the Methodist church at McDonalds chapel, her former home. She lived a devoted life and had many friends who learn with sorrow of her passing on. Granny Hamil was a true and faithful mother of nine children. All surviving her except one. They are J. M. Hamil, G. W. Hamil, N.L. Hamil and Mrs. B. L. Crutchfield, of Langdale; J.H. Hamil, of Tallassee, John Hamil, W. S. Hamil, and Mrs. J.J. Duncan, of Ashland, Ala. Also two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Wells, of Boaz, and Mrs. Caroline Hamil of Ashland. Ala. She was the proud owner of 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. These and many other relatives have the sympathy of the entire section in their bereavement. Her remains were carried back to Clay County. Funeral services being held Friday afternoon. She was laid to rest in the Old McDonald chapel burying grounds. Rev. Bean, of Delta, officiating, assisted by Rev. Veazey, of Cragford. Johnson Company Funeral directors in charge. Her grandsons acted as pallbearers. Additional Comments: She was buried in McDaniel's Chapel Cemetery.
