Hamil, age 77 years, 4 months and 10 days, died at his home near Mellow Valley April 1st and his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at McDaniel's Chapel April 3rd. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Roberts of Cragford. The K. of P. fraternity also took part. Mr. Hamil was born in Meriweather County, Georgia, and moved to the Mellow Valley community when quite living there continuously ever since, except while he was in the Civil war. He was a good citizen and an honored Confederate soldier who saw service in many battles. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. His two sons, John Hamil, and Frank Hamil, and one daughter, Miss Elizabeth Hamil, reside in his old home community and the other daughter, Mrs. L. K. Johnson resides in Talladega County.
