Hampton died suddenly at his home in Ashland at 7 p.m. Dec. 23. He had suffered a heart attack on the 20th of Aug. 1962, but seemingly was progressing back to a normal life. Mr. Hampton was 58 years of age and was a native of Clay County having lived in Lineville and Ashland all his life. He was employed with the Ala. Power Co. for the past 16 years. Funeral services were held at 2 Dec. 25th at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. Elders E. I. Mcquire, Phillip Kelly, and B. B. Finley officiating Pallbearers were employees of the Ala. Power James McDonald, Graham Summerlin, Lorenza Stone, Ellis Love, Kenneth Snow and John Price. Blair Funeral Home directing. Surviving are his wife, Ara B. Scarbrough; three sons, Bhurrel and Frank Hampton of Bham, Thomas Hampton of Auburn; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Wallace of Montgomery, Mis. Esther Sparks of Tampa, Mrs. Anne Voss, Bham. Six grandchildren. Four brothers, Zack of Arlington, Frank of Charlottesville, Clifton of Shreveport, La Homer of Anniston. One sister, Mrs. Lela Griffin of Talladega, Several nieces and nephews.
