Emmett Clayton Harris Sr., 78, of Ashland, Rt. 2, died Wednesday at Clay County 
Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at 
Clairmont Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Peace and the Rev. Malcolm 
Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Blair Brown-
Service Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Estelle W. 
Harris of Ashland; five daughters, Mrs. Kate H. Connell, Mrs. Bess H. Cater, Mrs. 
Kathryn H. Thrasher, Mrs. Imogene H. Hammond and Mrs. Shirley H. Brannan; two 
sons, Emmett Harris Jr. and Orby T. Harris, both of Ashland; two sisters, Mrs. 
Ruby H. Parrish and Mrs. Gladys H. Patterson; two brothers, Orbie E. Harris and 
L. L. Harris; and 21 grandchildren.
