Our Mountain Home
Lavine Hawkins, 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Hawkins died Sunday from burns 
received Thursday morning. The child spent Christmas night with a cousin, the 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cleburne Ogburn.
Mr. Ogburn made a fire in the rooms where the little girls slept, and in a few 
moments after leaving the room he heard screams and running into the room found 
the child's night gown in flames. He put out the flames as quickly as possible 
but not in time to save her life. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 
Rock Springs Baptist Church. Besides the father and mother five brothers and 
sisters survive
