Arthur Clarence Hayes, 40, of Ashland, was killed. Troopers said Hayes was traveling on a bicycle in the same direction as an automobile driven by James Arthur Shields of Vestavia Hills, Birmingham. Hayes died at 6:15 p.m. at Citizen's Hospital, following the 3 p.m. accident that happened 8.2 miles south of Talladega. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at Blair Funeral Home. Mr. Hayes, a retired painter, is survived by his father. Charlie M. Hayes of Sylacauga. a sister, Mrs. George Lacey of Ashland; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Hudgins of Ossining, N. Y., and Mrs. Elsie Mae Hawkins of Peterman; three half-brothers, Howard Hayes of New York, Austin Hayes of Montgomery and Pfc. Roy Hayes of the U. S. Army, Vietnam.
