Alexander Curry (Alex) Haynes, 89, died at the Clay County Hospital Wednesday 
after a short illness. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Good 
Hope Baptist Church in Delta with the Rev. 0. D. Parker officiating. Interment 
will be in the adjacent cemetery with Blair Funeral Home in charge. In addition 
to his wife, Mrs. Vestula Haynes, he is survived by four sons, D. B. of 
Lineville, Ike of Bynum, Carvel and Adell both of Delta, seven daughters, Mrs. 
Annie Shaddix of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Florida Harris of Lineville, Mrs. Elva 
Strickland, Mrs. Connie Wall, and Mrs. Georgia Brooks, all of Anniston, Mrs. 
Bonnie Braden of Wedowee and Mrs. Mindy Lee Phillips of Delta; 28 grandchildren, 
27 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.
