S. Headrick died December 28, 1927 at his home at Pyriton Alabama. By his passing his community was deprived of the influence of one of its most trustworthy citizens. His death was not only a keen blow to his people, who will cherish his memory always with loving reverence, but his absence will be keenly felt by all those who knew him as a sincere and upright man. Mr. Headrick was born in Polk County Georgia, May 1, 1851. He was married March 10, 1872 to Mary J. Lee of Paulding County Georgia. To this union was born twelve children, eleven of whom are still living. Into this large and lovable family was born forty grandchildren, forty two great grand children and 1 great-great grand child. Mr. Headrick spent a large part of his mature life in the service of the government, having been postmaster the greater part of the time since 1892, joined the Popular Springs Baptist church after coming to Clay county. It shall not be our purpose here to eulogize his life or to speak of his weaknesses. He had lived too long and was known too well by his friends for that to be necessary. But we can think of no words that would do justice to his life and his servive except that he was a clean, upright and worthy man, whose honesty and integrity were never questioned and whose motives were never impugned, as a servant, a citizen, a man, a father and a friend. He lived well the nearly four score years of his life. The LORD givith and the LORD taketh awey! blessed be the name of the LORD.
