Ashland Progress
Elisha Hendrix, age 77 years and 10 months, died at his home in the Barfield 
community last Thursday, June 21. His remains were interred in the cemetery at 
Black's Chapel after appropriate funeral services were held. Mr. Hendrix was 
married to miss Mary Frances Reeves in 1872 and to this union were born eleven 
children, all of whom still living. He is also survived by sixty-seven 
grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren. He joined the Baptist Church 
at the age of thirty-four and lived a consistent Christian life till he was 
called hence. His passing away is mourned by a host of relatives and friends.
