Ashland Progress
Mrs. Mary I. Hobbs, widow of the late C. N. Hobbs, died at her home in the 
Pleasant Grove community on Wednesday, August 12th, following a short illness. 
Mrs. Hobbs was 92 years of age and had lived in the Pleasant Grove community 
most all of her long life. She was a loyal member of the Church of Christ 
Pleasant Grove where for years it was her pleasure to prepare the bread and wine 
for the communion service. Mrs. Hobbs is survived by three sons J. M. Hobbs, 
Ashland; C. A. Hobbs, Auburn; and H. H. Hobbs, who made his home with his 
mother. Seven daughters survive Mrs. Iola Lynn, Talladega; Mrs. Viola Pitts, 
Lincoln; Mrs. Elma Adcock, New Jersey; Mrs. Mollie Saylors, Gatesville, Texas; 
Mrs. J. W. Gaither, Gadsden; Mrs. R. L. Ingram, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. John 
Campbell, Pyriton. Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Grove this 
afternoon at 3:30.
