From reports it seems he and a group of fellow students from Auburn wen sitting on a rock which projected into the waters of the creek, when one of the group a girl, slipped off into the water which was above depth Watts and other companions sprang in to save her and during the excitement he was in some way stricken, perhaps by cramp or heart failure and was drowned before his companions realized his peril and attempted to rescue him. The stream was dragged for some time before his lifeless body was found. the ill-fated young man was a grandson of Mrs. Josie Watts of Goodwater and is nephew of C. L. Watts o Brownville. He was the only son of Mrs. Howell, a bright pupil, and a great favorite with the family. His remains were brought the home of his uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Pitt Moon, a Goodwater, where funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11:00 o'clock. The interment was at Brownville near the old home of his mother's family.
