And we understand that the responsibility of the killing has been, by a coroner's jury, charged to Herman Dodson and Hoss Bell two other negroes. It is alleged that Herman Dodson struck the deceased with a rock and killed her instantly, but it is also claimed that Hoss was connected with the affair in some way. He has been taken in custody by sheriff Mayo but the principal actor in the tragedy is still at large. Aug 4, 1911: Herman Dodson, charged with killing Susie Hudgins, was also convicted of murder in the second degree and his punishment fixed at 10 years imprisonment in the penitentiary.
