John A. Hudson -- Subject of this sketch was born Oct. the 26, 1835 in South Carolina, moved to Alabama while yet a child, joined the Methodist church in his youth and lived a consistent member of the same until his death which event occurred Dec the 19th 1900. Brother Hudson was a very useful man in his community, having been a Minister of the Gospel for about twenty five years. He lived to see all his children grown except one and to see all of them converted and received with the church of his choice except two who no doubt will become members of the church when they are older as it was the consistent prayer of Brother Hudson that his children all embrace the christian religion and from the acquaintance the writer had with Brother Hudson he believes that old Brothers prayer will be answered. Brother Hudson was married to Tabitha E. Moore Oct the 10, 1876. He leaves wife and several children to mourn his death, besides a number of other relatives and friends. Having lived for about eighteen years within a mile of Brother Hudson and having been with him in meetings and Sunday School time and again and having watched his acts for more than twenty years, the writer is free to say that he believes that John A. Hudson lived the life of a Christian and died the death of the same. Therefore, I would say to the widow, and the sorrowing children; weep not. "He is not dead but sleepeth." I have no doubt that the spirit of Brother Hudson, having crossed over the river now rests in the shade of the trees of paradise. Let the widow, children as well as his friends that are left behind prepare for death that we may all meet him again in the land where there is no more pain, no more sickness, and where the sun never goes down, and where all tears are wiped away.
