Our Mountain Home
G. W. Johns died at his home near Clairmont Springs Tuesday, June 11th, at the 
age of 74 years. He was born and reared in North Alabama. He is survived by his 
wife and five children, twenty-six grandchildren and three great-grand-children. 
His church relationship was with the Baptist people. He had lived in this 
community nearly fifty years, and he will be missed by his many friends and 
acquaintances. His remains were buried in the Sardis cemetery. Funeral services 
were conducted by Rev. W. A. Wheeler. The pallbearers were his sons and sons-in-
law as follows: William A., George, Jr., Leon G., Arthur D. Johns, J. N. Clark 
and Vernon Finch. The death of Mr. Johns was unexpected. He died after an 
illness of only four days. We take this method of rendering thanks to our many 
friends for their kindness during the illness of our dear father and companion.
