Ashland Progress
Mr. C. L. Jones, age 86, of the Sardis community, died Monday night, Nov. 15, in 
Talladega. Surviving are four sons C. M., H. J., W. J., and T. L. and four 
daughters, Mrs. Cora Holman, Mrs. Nancy Kirk, Mrs. Etta Long and Mrs. Mattie 
Powell, also thirty grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, Mr. Jones 
joined the Sardis church when he was a boy. He worshipped there regularly and was 
a great lover of singing. One of his last statements was that he wanted all of 
his children to meet him in heaven. Pallbearers were: W. H. Hallman, Bill 
Blackmail, J. R. Moore, Hoyt Kirk. William Jones. Clarence P. Jones. Interment 
was in Sardis cemetery with Usrey in charge.
