Ashland Progress
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Arthur Jones, 69, who passed away in University 
Hospital, Bham, Aug. 31st, were held at Shiloh Baptist Church at 4:30 p.m., 
conducted by Elders H. H. Goodman, B.B. Finley and W. B. Denny Jr. Interment was 
in adjacent directed by Blair Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Edward Willis, Huel 
Willis, Charles Willis, Junior McLeroy, Leroy Bell, Melvin Williams. The 
deceased was fatally injured in a traffic accident when he entered Highway No 9. 
into the path of a truck and the accident was said to have been unavoidable. 
Survivors include two sons, Leon and Carl of New Orleans, five daughters, Mrs. 
Lois Tate, Goodwater; Mrs. Annie Royster, Ashland; Mrs. Louise Bell, Virginia, 
Mrs. Frances McDow, Newnan, Mrs. Buena Abernathy, Mountville, four brothers, 
John of Sylacauga; Etheridge, Woodie and Charlie of Ashland; 14 grandchildren 
and 3 greatgrandchildren.
