Our Mountain Home
A negro woman was dead and two white persons were recovering from painful 
injuries Tuesday as a result of an automobile accident near Ashland early Monday 
night. 
Love King, negro cook, died of burns received when an exploding gasoline tank 
set fire to her clothing as a car in which she was riding came into collision 
with another car on the Ashland-Talladega, road near Ashland. 
J. C Saxon, blacksmith with the U. S. Forest Service at Chandler Springs camp, 
driver of the other car, received severe injuries to the head and chest, and a 
lacerated tongue. 
Mrs. F. E. Watson, wife of the power company manager at Ashland, who was driving 
the car in which the negro woman was riding, received painful injuries. Mr. 
Saxon and Mrs. Watson were reported to be under the care of physicians at 
Ashland. Mrs. Watson was not believed to be seriously hurt. Complete details of 
the accident were lacking. Information received here was to the effect that Mrs. 
Watson was backing her car out of a driveway when it was struck by Mr. Saxon's 
car. Both cars went badly damaged.
