Ashland Progress
Mrs. Jess Knight, age 72, died at her home in the western part of Ashland on 
last Thursday afternoon, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Knight was born and 
reared in Ashland and leaves many relatives and friends to mourn her passing. 
She is survived by three sons and four daughters: J.H. of Frederick, Okla., J. 
C. and Vernon, of Ashland; Mrs. George Heath, of Albertville; Mrs. Fred Pinkard, 
of Miami, Fla. Mrs. Lula Latham, of Albertville and Miss Arba Knight, of 
Chattanooga, Tenn. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. J. Ingram, 
assisted by her pastor, Rev. J. E. Franks, at the home Saturday afternoon, all 
the children being present except one son, J. who reached Ashland late the 
afternoon. Interment was made in the Ashland cemetery, Blair directing. 
Pallbearers K. J. White, W. C. Parrish, Guy Gibson, J. W. Parsons, Arthur Green 
and Arthur Schoggins.
