Ashland Progress
County Court has been busily engaged on the criminal docket again this week and 
disposed of considerable business. The most important trial of the week was that 
of Bud Robertson, a negro, charged with the murder of Virgil Lauderdale, another 
negro, the killing having occurred near Millerville in December last. The case 
went to trial on Wednesday and on the following morning the jury rendered their 
verdict, finding the defendant guilty of murder in the second degree and fixing 
his punishment at 24 years in penitentiary.
