Mrs. J.F. Leftwich died at her home in the Bethany community, Saturday, March 
the 22nd at 3 o'clock and her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at 
County Line church.  Revs. Riley and Layton conducting the funeral service.
At the time of her death she was about 52 years old.  She was a faithful wife, 
a loving mother and a loyal church member.  She was loved by all who knew 
her.  But the Lord loved her best and called her home.  She is survived by a 
husband and five children, to wit:  Mrs. Maude Jordan, Claude, Myrtis, John L. 
and Loomis Leftwich. - Contributed

Additional Comments:
Elzena Z. "Ellie" Cockrell Leftwich (11/17/1872 - 3/22/1924) was married on
12/26/1886 to John Franklin Leftwich (10/06/1857 - 12/14/1927).  She was the 
daughter of William "Billy" Jackson Cockrell (1852-1939)and Harriet "Fanny" 
Downing McCoy Cockrell (1834-1904).  John Franklin was the son of Jabez and
Nancy Dingler Leftwich.

Children of Ellie and John Leftwich were:  Alonzo (1888-1919 of typhoid, m. 
Berlie Winslett); Maudie Lee (1890-1960, m. Willie Radford Jordan); Bobie O. 
(girl-1893-1902); Claude Eva (1896-1962, m. Brent Nix); Unnamed Infant (1900-
1901); Myrtis (1906-1966, m. Lavelle Nix); Loomis (1909-1992, m. Ista Wright); 
and John L. (1913-1972, m. Maybelle Carter).

Ellie Leftwich had one brother, Matthew Cockrell and one half sister, Addie 
McCoy. John Franklin Leftwich had two brothers, James and Joseph W. Leftwich, 
and two sisters.
