Lett was fatally injured in a cave-in, of a mica mine near Pyriton on August 15th. He was rushed to a Talladega hospital where he survived until August 20th. He was 43 years of age, and he lived in Clay County his entire life. His tragic death was a great shock to his many friends who so kindly assisted in many ways to console and comfort his family and He is survived by his wife, three daughter, Mrs. J. W. Smith of Lineville, Misses Maxine and Eleanor Lett; four sons, Billie, Phillip, Nelson, and Dallas, all of Pyriton; three sisters, Mrs. R. L. Heifner of Vincent; Mrs. Horace Dean, of Ashland, and Mrs. Hughel Haynes of Lineville. and six brothers, S. J. B. C. and Ellis of Pyriton, J. C. of DeArmanville, and W. J. Lett of Atlanta. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Concord Baptist church, conducted by Rev. S. C. Ray, assisted by Rev. Robt. Ingram. Interment was in the Concord cemetery, Blair directing. Pallbearers were his six brothers J. B. J. C. W. J. and Ellis Lett.
